Make Money From My Hobby - Discover What it Takes to Make Money From My Hobby!

So you have a hobby you love? How do I make money from my hobby?

I read stories all day long that talk about people who love their lives and they do what they love and theyve turned their hobby or passion into a money generating business.

Doesnt it just get under your skin because you rack your brain figuring out ways to come up with a way to turn your ideas into a money-making business? It does me.

Well as a former business owner who is turning his second hobby into a business, I am here to tell you that you can make money from your hobby.

Okay, so others have done it, but how do I make money from my hobby?

I once read a story, and maybe youve heard it, of a guy who became disabled and couldnt get a formal type job. Well that makes you pretty much screwed when it comes to bringing home the bacon right?

So turns out that his hobby of wire jewelry was much wanted throughout the world. He turned his hobby into a niche that sells upwards of 6-figures a month worth of products and information.

Or, what about a guy who started writing about his thoughts on personal development and self-growth only to start making close to $40k a month without selling a product. Just loved writing about this topic.

So, once again, how do I make money from my hobby?

$$ Figure out if your hobby is something others are interested in. Mainly, is there a market? Do you attend conventions? Do you pay a lot of money to do your hobby? These are all questions you must answer. I have a friend that does train layouts. He told me of an ex-CEO that retired and his passion was train layouts. He now sells his services around the country to set up a train layout for those passionate about model trains.

$$ What type of competition is out there? Your goal is to be unique and offer something of value that others dont offer. You must be different. Just being passionate about your hobby may not be enough b/c most businesses out there are also passionate.

$$ Utilize your brain to build relationships. You must set up shop, set up accounts, put together a website, open up a store (a website is much better nowadays in my opinion), and get help in setting up your business. Put a team together. We just had a client who is involved in pre-1900 gun shooting events. Everyone involved utilizes nicknames to play a role. He found out they would be interested in decals to portray their identities. A whole business is being set up for 60,000 members on this one idea. The man could make over $100,000 a year from this hobby.

$$ Treat it like a business. You can mess around a bit and make some money, but in order to really do well, you must treat it like a real business. Get an accountant, make things legal, protect your ideas, and market like crazy.

This is how I make money from my hobby. I once owned a multi-million dollar construction company. I then stumbled upon the wonderful art of making stained glass. With the help of my step-son, we are turning this enjoyable hobby into a money making adventure because others out there love doing stained glass as well.

It all starts with your imagination and some creative thinking. You can do what I have done which is make money from my hobby!

Joe Collinsworth & Randy Auel have teamed up. Joe & Randy have been masters at turning passions into money making ventures. Now he is onto stained glass and turning glass art into not only his love but a way to pay the bills and more.Visit http://www.makestainedglass.com to discover what it takes to turn your passion into a money maker.

Types Of Flak Jackets Used In The Vietnam War

Every frontline soldier in Vietnam was issued a flak jacket as part of his combat kit. The flack jacket is worn over the upper body, and was designed to give protection against small arms fire, shrapnel, and flying debris.

The Marines usually wore the Vest, Armored, M-1955. It weighed just over 10 pounds and was made form a mixture of nylon and a special protective material know as Doron. Doron was first manufactured in 1943 by the DowChemical Company, and was created by bonding together glass filaments under high pressure, using a resin called methacrylate. This produced a hard but light weight material which could withstand ballistic impact at very short range. The vest was fitted with twenty three separate Doron plates, with layers of nylon to cushion the impact of a direct hit.

The Army's flak jacket was slightly different. It was called Body Armor, Fragmentation Protective, Vest M69. It reflected the Army's preference for nylon-aluminum rather than Doron. Protection was built up by means of layers of ballistic nylon filler, sealed in a waterproof vinyl plastic casing. The vest weighed under 8 pounds and was more comfortable than the M-1955, especially in the heat and humidity of Vietnam, although in both cases the habit of wearing the flak jacket unzipped to keep cool, undermined its value.

Unfortunately neither vest was really designed to stop an AK-47 round fired point blank, but they did a pretty good job of stopping shell blasts, rocket fragments, snake bites, fire ant bites, prickly thorn and the odd bullet that had just about run out of gas.

Toy Train Admiration in Adulthood

As a child, the majority of adolescents were introduced to toy trains. As setting up these model railroad track sets are a favorite pastime to most, there are lots of different size locomotives and brands. Playing with train sets were also a nostalgic thing to actor "Ralphy" , who had a circled train track around his tree on the movie "A Christmas Story". Nowadays, no matter what a person's age, trains tend to keep a special place in the hearts of those who can't seem to let the hobby go.

The best thing someone could say about setting up the tracks is that you can configure them anyway you wish. That means that you could connect a bunch of switches together, curved rails and even build a switch junction for all the toy engines to park. This can be very exciting, because someone has complete control over the layout, feel , allowing the mind to roam freely how a rail scene would look. In fact, once the tracks are setup, life like houses, warehouses , and industrial buildings can be placed alongside the model layout to enrich the look.

Toy freight engine lovers also like certain brand trains. For instance, there's the life like Amtrak, CSX, Cheesie System, Union Pacific, DuPont, Conrail & Norfolk Southern sets. Models are sold separately, which may range anywhere from fifty dollars to three thousand. For more expensive ones, those most likely come in brass, which are made by hand and can have special insignia carved in, at the customer's request. Freight cars, which are placed behind the engine, cost from ten to potentially thirty dollars each, depending on the brand name of the rail boxcar. It's always best to mount up lots of freight cars behind the head engine, because then, you'll definitely know that you got your money's worth in buying a strong toy locomotive. For all lovers of this wonderful hobby, the sizes range from HO Scale, N Scale, Lionel and wider. For traditional admirers, "HO Scale" is most preferred.

In any positive hobby as a child, growing into adulthood only means the physical aspect. No matter the age, that child always seems to stay inside of us. Not only is playing with certain projects educational, but it can also be a favorite pastime to look back and always think good things about. For few, playing with toy railroad trains tend to create a desire to start a business that one day may produce enough financial fruit from to buy a real locomotive and truly bring out that little boy in a lot of grown folks!

Sales Networking - The Best Way To Begin Is To Dive Right In

Whilst family, friends and other easily identifiable contacts are a good place to start your networking efforts, sooner or later you will need to extend yourself beyond your familiar surroundings and look to attend relevant meetings and/or events.

In many ways, the type of meeting or event that you choose is not particularly important. If your hobby is old model trains, and someone advertises an old model train meeting and exhibition you are obviously likely to meet lots of people who might become good network contacts. However, this is likely to be the exception rather than the rule.

In most cases, meetings or social gatherings of people will be much more general affairs and ones that can only be broadly qualified for their possible relevance.

Start The Networking Adventure

The trick in networking (if there is one) is to treat all meetings or events as an adventure.

Like any adventure, you may have some fear and trepidation about facing the unexpected, but you should also feel some of the thrill of the challenge and excitement in finding new people with whom you can really connect. By making time in your schedule to attend, you can use early opportunities to watch others networking and to get into the habit of talking to the people you meet.

Dont forget, networking successfully means that we sometimes have to stretch ourselves to the edges of our comfort zones hard at first but much easier with practice.

Be Prepared

Whether it is a formal meeting or event (with one hundred people) or an informal gathering (of only ten or less) being ready or open to network is very important like the Scouts motto Be Prepared.

Even if you are shy, introverted, nervous, bored, or tired, you just never know when you are going to bump into interesting and useful people.

Part of this process of being prepared is to have crisp information about yourself available so that your communication is short, focused and clear - not totally unlike an elevator pitch. Some of this is provided by a good business card, however, effective networking is rarely achieved by saying Hello and merely handing over a business card you have also got to give something of yourself as a person.

So, What Do You Do?

It pays to think hard about what you could and should communicate in what might be only a few seconds. It is amazing how many people respond to the question What do you do? with Thats a difficult/interesting question! or Im an engineer/analyst/administrator/

co-coordinator/manager!

Such responses do little to educate the person asking. It is far better to give some pre-thought to this question (even if there are two or three versions of reply youd like to use) and practise using your answer.

Keep It Short & Simple

Many of the books on networking advocate specific advice such as introductions of 10 words or less or no more than two sentences. However, although keeping it short is important, it is more critical that you are:

Clear use common words, no jargon

Concise use short words and sentences

Personable use engaging, friendly and warm words

Interesting say something different or distinctive

You typically only have about 5 10 seconds to cover these four criteria, but this realistically gives you up to twenty words to use.

Finally - Introduce Yourself

Specific introductions will be very much up to the individual style and personality. However, once again, this is an opportunity to stretch yourself to the edge of your comfort zone and present yourself as positively as you can. A simple example that meets all the above criteria might therefore be:

Hello, my name is Annabelle Jones. I spend my time designing and running interactive booklets on networking.

Note that this has to cover what you do in practical terms and not just your name and job title.

Perhaps a more forthright example might be:

Hello, my name is Annabelle Jones. I produce TV screen advertisements from script to screen and everything in between the two.

Finally, I must highlight the fact that the warmth of your introduction will determine the outcome of the meeting. Even though you may well be shy and nervous, it is important to make eye contact and smile it sends out the message that you are confident, relaxed and friendly.

Chocolate Delivery - The Sweet Way of Expression

There are very few people in this world who do not like chocolates. Be it young or old, children or adults, even people who do not have a sweet tooth, there is hardly anyone who can escape the joy of eating chocolates. Now chocolates have graduated from being merely a sweet to a gift item. Chocolate delivery has become quite prevalent across the globe and more and more people are gifting chocolates to their loved ones.

Chocolates have become the new expression of love and friendship. As a gift item, the sweet message delivered by a box of chocolates can never go wrong. Whatever the occasion and whatever the relation, chocolates are undoubtedly the safest gift items. Even flowers can be misunderstood at times because different colours and varieties of flowers have different connotations, but there is no such thing to fear if one is taking the services of chocolate delivery.

If you know the kind of chocolate preferred by the person to whom you are sending the box, then it is an added advantage. Different people like different kinds of chocolate; for example, some like dark and bitter chocolates, while others may like ones filled with rums and raisins, and so on. Companies that provide chocolate delivery services can deliver any kind of chocolates at any given date and time.

The gift packing of chocolates too is done beautifully with a lot of creativity and innovation. The box is usually wrapped in a glittering and attractive paper and is mostly adorned with a satin ribbon that is tied into a beautiful bow. The box may also be adorned with flowers and various other decorative pieces. Chocolate delivery assists in keeping the surprise element intact, in case the receiver is not expecting the gift or is residing in a different country. The bottomline is that nobody would mind getting such a pleasant surprise.

You Can Stand Out in a Crowd

Why is it that too few of us try to stand out in a crowd?

Being viewed as knowledgeable in some area in your life can lead to golden opportunities. Have you an ambition to get a promotion? Speak at an event? Impress your spouse or open up your life to possibility?

How do go about doing this? Are you looking at the big picture instead of choosing something specific to become an expert in?

First you must decide what you are good at. What can you talk about with some authority? Is it a hobby? For example: model trains, lace making, children's literature, stamp collecting, matchbox collecting, WW2 History. Is it a skill? Carpentry, public speaking, Internet knowledge, cooking, lace making or painting. Is it a work skill? Are you a people person, great bookeeper, creative chef, dedicated teacher or entrepreneur?

We all have skills to share. This will open up our life. It is where we find our passion.Sharing and opening up can be a way to:

  • meet people

  • gain a promotion

  • develop a consultancy

  • develop self esteem

  • improve personal relationships

Claiming you are an expert at something takes courage and belief in yourself. But the opportunities are unlimited when you do. We live in the information age and people are looking for information on all sorts of topics.

The Internet is a wonderful resource for

  • promoting your ideas,

  • researching

  • contacting people with the same or similar interests.

Really reflect upon what you are good at. Don't be modest. Brainstorm. Ask questions such as: What are my qualifications? Are they formal? Have I gained expertise through experience? This is by no means an inferior qualification!

Are you afraid to claim expertise in an area because you do not want someone to challenge you? Are you sure you know enough?

Look for something unique about your knowledge and experience.

You will probably find it is your attitude and lack of openness that is holding you back. People won't challenge you because most of us are behaving in the same self defeating way. Become someone who can inspire others to break the mold of inferiority.

Spend time reviewing your knowledge and experience and be clear about what you know. A positive approach is to be clear that you are always open to learning more!

Taking a broad topic and then refining it to something specific, unusual or interesting is not difficult if you are willing to put in the time and the effort.

Stand up and put your best foot forward. You don't know where it will lead!

An Orlando Vacation Devotee

As an Orlando vacation devotee, I can recommend all of the theme parks, but did you know the area is brimming with other excellent visitor attractions without a roller coaster in sight. Orlando also has markets, shows, art galleries, exhibitions, beautiful lakes and parks, all easily available for the visitor who wants something a little different. The city has been attracting tourists for a long time and justifiably so as it has just about everything the visitor could want.

If you enjoy shopping then you will love Orlando; it has plenty of malls and stores like Outdoor World which is so large it contains a 17,000 gallon aquarium and you could spend all day there. An Orlando vacation has far more to offer than this short article can possibly hope to highlight so only a few of the more unusual attractions and places to see are brought to your attention.

To start, there is the Central Florida Zoo which draws huge crowds all year round and has over four hundred animals there although it is was only granted this status in 1975. Privately owned, this zoo is also a botanical garden run by a charitable group whose purpose is to protect native and endangered species around the world.

For anyone that appreciates the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany then a large collection of his works is exhibited the Museum of American Art, where it has been housed since the early 1940's. The famous chapel interior commissioned for the World's Columbian Exhibition back in 1893 is also here along with many items of Tiffany jewelry, leaded glass, ornaments and clayware.

Whilst Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town designed for the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the truth with adults equally well looked after. For people that prefer the night, the list of things to do on an Orlando vacation is almost endless with families, teenagers and adults all well looked after.

Another popular attraction is the Orlando Science Center and is in fact one of the largest buildings of its type allowing the visitor access to ten huge exhibition halls. For lovers of anything relating to trains and trolleys, there is the International Trolley and Train Museum which has fourteen model trains running through the building which actually houses a waterfall.

If you have seen the Titanic-Ship of Dreams film then you will enjoy the exhibition along International Drive that tells the story using large sets and depictions from the ship as a background. Away from all the hustle is the wonderful Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown; it has beautiful sidewalks in over forty acres where it is possible to spend a few peaceful hours.

No trip to Orlando would be complete without a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort which comprises of four main theme parks plus water parks; or Universal Studios resort complex which is equally as popular. An Orlando vacation has enough tourist attractions to last a year so the next time you visit, why not try one or two of the others; they may be less well known but can be just as impressive.
